EMDR

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. When we sleep at night we enter into the REM sleep cycle (Rapid Eye Movement). During this cycle, rapid eye movement helps the brain process and store your experiences and memories for the day – think of it as your brain storing all the files (your experiences) into filing cabinets in your brain. However, sometimes if there is a traumatic incident, our brain is unable to fully process the memory, resulting in triggers leading to symptoms of distress. EMDR helps your brain process and store those files into their proper filing cabinet, minimizing the triggers and symptoms of distress.
